The Gluten-Free Holiday Blogging Event Is HERE: Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa

December 31st, 2007 · 9 Comments

Christmas and Hanukkah have come and gone; Kwanzaa ends in two days. When the holidays arrive, what’s a gluten-free cook/baker to make? Here are some suggestions to help you along. (Thanksgiving ideas can be found here.) Starters and Side Dishes–they usually actually take centerstage, don’t they? The protein is just an extra; the starters and […]

State of the Sally plus Still Sick Soup

December 28th, 2007 · No Comments

We got home from our holiday trip yesterday–home after having no real internet access on our trip, home after a drive that stretched to two days due to traffic, home with me still lingeringly sick with the illness I had when we left. And home after eating someone else’s cooking for a week. Our hostess […]

Review of the Year

December 17th, 2007 · 10 Comments

Well, the bad news is that I’m still sick. This was Day of Near Silence #2 while I tried to rest my throat. Thank God for writing. But the weekend was certainly not a total wash. The good news is that I have hit a thirty pound loss this year. Early this weekend, I first […]

Slowing down

December 14th, 2007 · 3 Comments

I can’t believe it’s been 10 days since my last post, but then again, I guess I can.  As many of you also have been lately, I’ve been running hither and thither to various work, social, exercise, and medical engagements.  Despite tiring myself out thoroughly,  I haven’t slept any better than I usually do–which is […]

December 4th, 2007 · 21 Comments

As I’ve mentioned previously, every month I have a new activity to focus on trying. I learned about my food allergies and my atypical celiac disease this summer in the midst of . . . well, a lot going on in my life. So when I was setting up my activities for each month, I […]

Using up a leftover vegetable tray

December 4th, 2007 · 3 Comments

We can all use some lighter meals to counterbalance our holiday indulgences this time of year; that’s why I planned to have a (soy-free) vegetable stir-fry for dinner. Then I realized (bonus!) that I could use up some of the sliced vegetables that were sitting in our work fridge, left over from the party on […]

Yay!

December 3rd, 2007 · 7 Comments

I forgot to mention that I have just barely reached 174 this week with a 174.8 weigh-in two days in a row.  Hey, I’ll take it. That loss means I’ve lost 29 pounds since January and over 50 pounds since my highest weight.  Woo-hoo!

The Week in Which I Finally Get to Breathe (and my weekly meal plan)

December 2nd, 2007 · 9 Comments

In about half an hour, I’m leaving for a big annual event that I planned for my (non-profit) job. We’ll have 250 attendees and 50-60 volunteers present. Santa will be there for free photos (which one set of volunteers will take, and then will put in frames they create with the kids). Each of the […]
